Locations > Glen Housing Estate
The North Side of Cork City is known in part for its large Council Housing Estates built on a large Hill. Built in the 1960’s & ‘70’s they were seen as an ideal solution to the cramped and dilapidated inner city housing that had built up along the docks below. This is a good example of the period, with empty grass areas and cracked pavements but fiercely proud tenants. Some of the properties have been sold and done up, but the surrounds remain the same.
