This 500-acre estate has been a scenic, historical and beautiful natural attraction since the mid nineties, when the visitor centre was first opened. Over the years, it has established itself as one of the south’s major educational and eco tourism destinations. Originally, this vast expanse of land was purchased privately for agricultural use.

Here is the place to find Irish countryside at it’s absolutely best. Wildlife includes the estate’s own herd of deer, otters, rare butterflies and moths, and a holy host of bird and aquatic life. Find natural waterfalls, gurgling streams, and large lake with a Crannog Island, which would have provided valuable protection for farmers and their livestock around 1700 years ago. Themed gardens include Sensory, Historical Garden commemorating some key figures in modern Irish history, Bee Garden, Music Garden, Tertiary Garden and an old fashioned rose walk headily scented in the height of summer.
