Locations > Union & Morrison’s Quays
Located on the South Channel of the River Lee which runs through the heart of the City, it is a fine example of the old style City docks that once were the beating heart of Cork. Set on a bend in the river you can still see the original wooden quaysides slowly rotting away as each tide comes and goes. At high tide the river fills it to the very top – alarmingly if you happen to be on the footbridge at the time! Here are now some iconic buildings of the City, including the huge Deco style College of Commerce, the ultra modern School of Music, an old deco style gas works (now RTE studios) and Fr Mathew Church & Monastery to name but a few! Very interesting visually.
