Up and Coming Talent in Youghal!

50 The DealVibrant, innovative and continuing to expand year-after-year, the seventh year of the First Cut! Youth Film Festival takes place in Youghal from the 21st to the 23rd of April.  With awards covering categories such as documentaries, short film, animation and music videos, the festival is a celebration of both our national and international creative youth.

As well as the awards themselves, there are a number of additional events and workshops, including a Q&A with Nora Twomey from the Academy Award nominated animation studio Cartoon Saloon (Song of the Sea, Book of Kells) and the participation of MTV music video award nominated directors Brendan Canty and Conal Thomson of Feel Good Lost (Hozier’s Take me to Church).

As Mary McGrath, the festival manager, mentions, “Each year we see more and more inspiring talented young filmmakers submit their work. They are the reason this festival exists, our aim is to support young filmmakers by providing them with a rare opportunity to gather together in a vibrant atmosphere and showcase their work.”

97With annual support from the Arts Council and Cork County Council, as well as local sponsorship from SuperValu and Youghal Credit Union, all events are free and open to the public to attend. The Festival takes place at the spectacular Mall Arts Centre from Thursday, 21st to Saturday, 23rd of April.
